Chairperson Maggie Whitbread requested that members observed a 1 minute silence in memory of long term member and group leader Margaret Sage.
Writing in the newsletter she reported that the Thurrock branch hosted a preliminary meeting of the organising committee of the Thames Estuary Olympic Walk. some 28 delegates from U3A branches from Essex and Suffolk.. She expressed her thanks for a donation of £100 from the Chafford Hundred branch of Sainsbury’s, to cover the catering. She reported that there will be a need for volunteers as stewards and helpers during the event.
Peter Woodcock, leader of the birdwatching group, announced that following the late winter break a visit to Pemsford Nature Reserve has been arranged for March 25th.
