Last gasp agony for Thurrock as relegation woes continue

Thurrock opened the scoring in the eighth minute after being awarded a free kick on the edge of the home sides box. Glenn Poole lined up his shot, which went through the wall into and then out of the keepers arms, a scrambled ensued and it fell to Ben Bowditch who blasted the ball home from close range.

Thurrock failed to capitailise on their early pressure as the home side began to push forward.

In the twentieth minute Thurrock keeper David Hughes pulled of a fine save from close range when a Tonbridge cross was headed on by Michael Boatang and found Kayne McLaggon inside the six yard box but his well timed shot was saved.

Two minutes later Tonbridge drew level when they were awarded a penalty. Another dangerous cross was fired into the Thurrock box and Callum Davies used his arm illegally to control the bal giving the referee an easy decision to award the penalty.

Danny Walder took the spot kick firing the ball low to the keepers right, Hughes got a hand on to the ball but failed to keep it out.

Thurrock regained the lead in the 57th minute following a sequence of passing that started wide on the left when Reece Harris sent Glenn Poole down the flank, his cross went deep to the far side and collected by Stuart Thurgood who put the ball into the box where Lee Boylan had a shot block the deflection fell to Ben Bowditch his shot went out wide where Glenn Poole collected and fired home from an acute angle beating the keeper at his near post.

The home side should have equalized in the 82nd minute when they were awarded another penalty, once again Danny Walder took the kick, this time firing his shot high over the bar.

In a game that was keenly fought out between two teams trying to play football in a competitive manner somehow referee Mr David Rock a known autograph hunter managed to collect the names of seven players unbelievable,

In the 90th and 94th minute Thurrock defence threw away a game that they deserved to win when goals from Tonbridge Scott Kinch and Michael Boatang.flew in from long range efforts.
