Thurrock Writers Circle November 2011

THE SPEAKER for November at Thurrock Writers Circle was Michael Casey who gave an interesting and thought provoking talk on “The Changing Face of News”

Michael has an internet based newspaper website that gives the news in a different way. Contributors are important and he has a variety of people that send in stories for him to edit and put out.

Michael has been a reporter on several newspapers and was also a member of the police force where he was a crime reporter he enthralled the members as he told some very interesting stories of his experiences.

When it was suggested that everyone was not into computers and was not able to access the Internet he said:

“At one time no one had a colour TV and where are all the vinyl records that once were popular, this is progress. It certainly gave room for thought.

The TWC were very pleased with the success of their poems that were a contribution to the 50th birthday of both the Thurrock Arts Council and the Thameside Theatre. Those that attended this great event enjoyed every minute.

There is a wealth of talent in Thurrock and thanks to the dedication of the TAC it is brought to the fore.

Contributions for the Christmas short story competition were given in and a Christmas social is being arranged.

Next meeting is at The Hugh Delargy Complex Hall, Chadwell St Mary Grays Essex
