Tilbury 0 Thamesmead Town 0 Att 84
Tilbury remain in the play-off position after hard fought 0-0 draw against a good Thamesmead side.
Paul Vaughan made two changes to the line up with Good and Nightingill replacing Cook and West.
It was a quiet opening from both sides who cancelled each other out. It took until the 22nd minute for the first real effort on goal. Alex Read went close when a deep Henty free kick went wide. The effective Thamesmead striker Joseph Apusi was well blocked by Paul on 36 and Read again went close after good build up play by Aiken just before the break.
On 55 Aiken again went close whern his effort was cleared just inside the six yard box. Tilbury started brightly in the 2nd half and Sam Mott in the visitors goal made a good save on the hour, when Bradley Barnes played a good ball through. A minute later Apusi looked to give the visitors the lead, but the outstanding Nightingill cleared well for a corner. Thamesmead pushed for a goal and Neol blazed over from 5 yards on 70 minutes. In added time Aiken’s 25 yard effort was well saved again by Mott and a minute later Thamesmead’s Chuck Duru almost took all the points back to Kent when Marrable saved well.
The result sees Tilbury remain in 5th place.
After the game Manager Paul Vaughan commented “I am happy the good run has continued. I thought we shaded the game for long periods. We look forward to our Essex Senior Cup tie at Brightlingsea Regent on Tuesday night, where we will send a strong team with a quarter final place at stake”.
Tilbury’s next game is away to Brightlingsea Regent on on Tuesday night in the Essex Senior Cup, before they travel to Maldon & Tiptree United next Saturday in the league.
