Boxing: Olympic dreams in tatters as she is dropped from GB squad

CHADWELL BOXING club Olympic boxing hopeful Nina Smith has had her dream of fighting for GB at this years games counted out.

The 29-year-old from Grays has lost her place at British Boxing’s national training centre at Sheffield and so ruling her out for the Under-51kg category.

Boxing chiefs have indicated the decision was due to a lack of progress at the very elite level.

Nina, only took the sport up four years ago and was in the same weight category as the vastly experienced Nicola Adams.

Adams is a former world amateur double silver medallist and is current European gold medal holder.

YT understands that Smith still plans to compete in boxing’s world champs in China in May.
