FORMER WORLD JAVELIN champion and olympic silver medallist, Fatima Whitbread visited the Gateway Academy in Tilbury this week to pass on her expertise in athletics and sport in general.
Many of the students will have seen her steely eyed competitive streak on ITV’s “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here.” but in Thurrock Fatima is best known for her athletic prowess in the eighties where she won two olympic medals, a world championship and broke the world record in 1986.
Fatima spoke to a whole school assembly before hosting a seminar before a select group of students. It was a golden opportunity to get some priceless advice.
