TWO dozen young William Edwards students will be going Cyclicious crazy next week
The 24 young women will be taking part in a four-week programme starting on Monday, 20 February that aims to raise awareness of cycling among girls at secondary schools ― as they are statistically far less likely to use cycles.
The scheme will inform them about the benefits of cycling, while at the same time ensuring they cycle safely and responsibly.
There will be lots of freebies and giveaways as well as cycle checks and Bikeability cycle training for the girls who take part.
There will be an odometer challenge, where the students will be seeing how far they cycle and a cycle-to-school week promotion.
The pilot programme, being delivered by Thurrock Council’s road safety team, has been funded by the Department of Transport’s, Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
