ORSETT councillor, Mike Revell is a learned and well-read man and it appears that in the word of the great bard “Something is wrong in the state of Denmark” when it comes to the T-Fest accounts.
Last month, cllr Revell had declared them a “whitewash” and he was not mollified last night (Wednesday) at the meeting of the full council.
Cllr Revell said: “I cannot for the life of me believe or understand why the accounts were not available to me in October when I first asked.”
Cllr Revell had asked the portfolio holder, cllr Lynn Worrall: “Would the portfolio holder please supply this council with a validated income and expenditure account for the 2010 T-Fest?”
Cllr Worrall had explained to him that there was a copy of the accounts available online and with the finance department.
Cllr Worrall later told YT: “I am happy for an external auditor to come in and examine the accounts.”
Having wrestled with 2011, cllr Revell has not finished there and is now planning to examine the 2010 accounts as well.

Cllr Revell , by all means assure the finances are being reported correctly but DONT lose this festival for the people of Thurrock, I think you will find that your group were the instigators of this free festival which remains for many a welcome option to the Orsett Show, which many cannot afford to attend.
Chickenfeed1 makes a good point this Cllr Revell seems to have a hidden agenda. i read in one Thurrock Enquirer that he said this campaign is about the problems the council has had with its account rather than the event, and he is using T-Fest to make a point. Also this was said at the meeting. Michael Casey has run a story without the bit about what was actually said at the meeting or in the papers. And if Cllr Revell actually said the issue was about an axe to grind because of problems with the council preparing its accounts ( i recall the chief account left a few months back) then it is interesting that Your Thurrock missed this point out!!! So is Michael Casey and Cllr Revell a double act??? i agree T-Fest is a great event, free for residents. Chickenfeed1 said it best ‘this free festival .. remains for many a welcome option to the Orsett Show, which many cannot afford to attend’. The event is also one of the few things that Thurrock Council does well, lets not loose the festival because some old f@rT wants to score points against labour.
I agree with Chickenfeed1 what is all this stuff about T-Fest accounts of late? it is a free event and a great event full stop. Gary Heart i have to agree with a lot of your points if the information is right then Michael Casey may be a bit of a closet conservative, and has let himself down. The funny thing is that he has a whole section on Your Thurrock dedicated to T-Fest!!! Great event i beat he is there with camcorder in hand when it runs, i wonder if anyone else will get the irony and hypocrisy apart from us fans.
