GRAYS ATHLETIC fans paid tribute to many of the past players in a special Hall of Fame event at the Ship on Saturday.
Anyone who has spent time with Grays Ath fans know how in tune they are with the history of the club.
Inducted into the Hall of Fame were: Harry Brand, Malcolm Shaw, David Crown, Barrie Delf, Micky Welch and Phil Sammons.
There were special awards as well.
Jeff and Fred Saxton were awarded the Gordon “Nipper” Norman award and there was also a special award to fan of sixty years standing, Glyn Jarvis.
The organiser of the Hall of Fame event, Chris Turner said: “I’d just like to thank everyone who came. We had over 80 people attend including our inductees and their guests.
“We had more people attend ( more than some sides in our league get for their home games, showing what great supporters we have.
“I’d like to thanks Chris Newport for his fantastic pictures, Kim for her help with the raffle, Glyn Jarvis (sorry about the surprise), Muttley, George Watts and Fred Wakeling and Alison Popham for helping induct our Hall of Famers.
“In all we raised £323 last night for the Trust and still have some of the limited edition Hall of Frame prints left which cost £15, plus other memorabilia, see me at the next home match or contact any Trust comittee member if you wish to purchase any of these.
“I would also like to thank all the staff at The Ship for all their help and providing us with a fantastic buffet.
