CONSERVATIVE MEP, David Campbell Bannerman, paid a constituency visit to Grays this week and dropped in at the People’s Pledge office while he was here.
He met members of the team during their lunchtime break and they gave him a briefing on the campaign activity so far on the doorsteps, and on their plans to get out the vote in the run-up to polling day.
Mr Campbell Bannerman said: “It was good to see the People’s Pledge in action on my constituency visit to the Grays office, as the first one in the country, and to understand better the aims of this cross party organisation.
“I personally believe in an In/Out Referendum on the EU, as polls show two thirds of Tory supporters and the majority of the UK population does. This is something for debate at the next election.”
Ian McKenzie, National Communications Director for the People’s Pledge, said: “It was good to meet David.
He is a strong supporter of a national referendum on the EU and seemed genuinely impressed with our work in giving the people of Thurrock a say.”
Ballot papers are arriving this week and the polls close at 5pm on 5 April, but postal votes take time so they will need to be posted in plenty of time to arrive by the deadline.
Phone, text and online voting is also available. Anyone worried they will not receive a ballot paper can email [email protected] or ring 01375 371534 to check if they are registered.
