“WHAT can I do to please you?” asked communities portfolio holder, cllr Lynn Worrall as veteran Tory councillor, Mike Revell refuses to let go of the T-Fest accounts controversy.
At last nights meeting, cllr Revell told the council that, after six months, he had finally received the accounts.
Cllr Revell said: “It was good to receive the accounts but there are no receipts attached!
“Now call me old-fashioned but when I purchase something, I ask for a receipt.
“What is baffling is that there is a mark in the ledger for £8,000 in cash.”
Cllr Worrall repeated that they she is happy to scrutinise accounts.
She said: “I can only repeat that we are happy to bring in an outside auditors.
“I would like to thank the editor of the Thurrock Enquirer (Neil Speight) for bringing this matter to the publics attention.
“There will be a number of revenue streams for this years T-Fest, which will be bigger and better than ever.”

Should these accounts not be in the public domain, after all it is our money that pays for the T Fest, it is a great festival for the local area but should be under full scrutiny on the accounts and whether this money is being diverted away from other necessary causes?
Lambo: These accounts are in the public domain. The whole event is organised and has always been organised by council officers and a cross party working group from both sides of the council.
Rumour has it that Cllr Revell has upset many of his tory friends in the chamber in his persistent hounding on this empty rant of a whitewash and naming officers in the papers.
Another question that could be asked by jo public? Are the accounts for the previous three years as thorough as the ones that Cllr Worrall has published since she has been in charge?
By that i mean for the three years that the event was run by Thurrock Tories and under the control of Mike Revell, Barry Johnson and co.
Is it also true that under the Tories Thurrock leadership of the council – Thurrock residents paid £20k for just one act to perform at the event for 20 minutes.
Spot on Lambo
I wonder if Cllr Revell will ask questions about two event organised by his collegue, Councillor Joy Redsell?
While she has received much publicity for her dodgy metings with developers and illegal lorry park owners, hampers, gull light ship photos and clubbing with teenagers – in fact she has sunk under sleaze – almost forgotten are two events that she organised and whose accounts should be exposed for their scandalous waste of taxpayers cash.
The first is the infamous Lakeside icerink

and the second is the English Festival held on Blackshots playing field.

Perhaps someone should ask some probing questions on the cost of these events. They cost so much and made so little Thurrock Council has refused to organise either event again.
One wonders why the accounts for these events have never seen the light of day?
The £20,000 was to pay for Diversity to perform I believe – this works out at about twenty household yearly council tax payments for 10 minutes prancing around on stage entertaining a few thousand.
This is where the people that don’t know, don’t know.
The £20,000 cost for Diversity to perform at the T-Fest was donated by a sponser. They didn’t cost the Council a penny.
Now you know.
