100,000 page views in a month for Your Thurrock!

WE passed a landmark today as for the first time, we passed 100,ooo page views in a month. That means a lot to a little on-line newspaper. So, we would like to thank everyone who has looked in.

Our peak monthly figure last year was 87,000, so we are delighted to have beaten that so early on.

The key to our success has been, in our opinion, the fact that we are 24/7. People know that whether it is the incident at the Pullman Tavern pub in Grays, the fire at Tilbury Power Station or indeed the football results on a Saturday afternoon, people know that we will be there.

Indeed, this article is being written at 0545 hrs in the morning as we need to put a few articles up, have breakfast and then go off to film the teachers from Gable Hall who are running into work today!

At the same time, we could not have a 24/7 news service, without the people who phone, text or tweet with information.

Just for the record, we also have the channel, which hosts all the films we have made. Infact, all 3,850 since we launched in September 2008.

That figure of 100,000 translates in 16,000 unique views as well. The uniques is, of all the stats, the most useful. You can give a paper boy 50,000 papers but how many actually get uniquely read, is something that cannot be calculated.

We also have 2,993 followers on Twitter.

So, onwards and upwards. You are only as good as the last story you printed.

  1. And still some of our Councillors and the Boroughs MP refuses to be interviewd by YourThurrock – don’t they realise this is probably the best medium for them to get their political messages out to large sections of Thurrock residents? Are they afraid to be held up to scrutiny?

  2. Very well said Dave Peterson
This on line paper may not always put things that suit the cllrs & MP’s but I for one believe tht they try to be as non baise as they possibly can.
A very well done to YOUR THURROCK
