A WOMAN has today (Friday) been charged with motoring offences relating to a fatal road crash in south-west Essex.
The collision happened in Aveley when a VW Polo and a Nissan Micra struck each other on Sandy Lane shortly before 6:30am on Monday, September 26, 2011. The casualties from the Micra had been on the grass verge after getting out of the car when two of them were struck by a Vauxhall Astra which had tried to avoid the two damaged cars.
One of these two men was 48-year-old Farhad Zaman from West Green Road in Tottenham, north London who died in Basildon University Hospital the following day.
The driver of the Polo, a 30-year-old woman from South Ockendon, was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with one count of causing death by careless driving and one count of careless driving. She has been released on police bail prior to her appearance at Basildon Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 12.
A 45-year-old man from South Ockendon was also arrested in connection with this crash but he has since been released without charge.
