A FABULOUS fashion fusion for the eyes took place at The Royals Shopping Centre in Southend last weekend.
The Fashion Show hit the catwalk a total of three times, showcasing the Spring collections of stores from the popular Shopping Centre and creations from talented Fashion students from South Essex College.
The work of South Essex College dominated every part of the show, both on the catwalk and behind the scenes, as students from across three courses helped shape every aspect of the show. BTEC Production Arts (Design Hair and Media Make Up students from the Thurrock Campus of the College helped get the models’ hair and faces ready for the catwalk. The course is the only one of its kind in south Essex and attracts students from right across the county, with students on the day coming from Colchester, Basildon and Leigh-on-Sea.
Production Arts student, Nicola Newton, 16, from South Ockendon, said: “This is the first time any of us have done make up for a Fashion Show so was a real challenge and was a great experience for us to get involved behind the scenes. We were also helping Boots and Debenhams with their beauty products.”
The dedicated Thurrock Campus students helped prepare hair and make up for over 20 fashion models.
Dawn Jeakings, Centre Manager for The Royals Shopping Centre, was thrilled with how the day went. She said: “It’s been really great working with the students in a real business environment to help launch our Spring collections and all the retailers who have been involved have been nothing but supportive.”
