THURROCK Council’s has issued its first email to residents who have signed up for the Travel Thurrock project.

The council was awarded £5 million from the government to be spent over four years and has been working hard to put everything in place so travel choices will be more effective and efficient, easier, and cheaper in the years to come.

Working with public transport providers other partners including schools as well as the council’s own road safety, transport and highways teams, Travel Thurrock could have an impact on everyone’s lives.

The March email gave news about two new bus services — 11 and 374 — and how to use public transport to get to Easter events.

The emails go out monthly to those who have signed up through the council’s website (www.thurrock.gov.uk) and clicking on the Travel Thurrock icon with special offers and competitions.

The council wants as many local people as possible to get involved and sign up to receive the regular updates about the scheme. The first 1,000 people to register will receive a free pedometer (to measure the number of steps they take and the calories they burn) while walking around Thurrock.
