PEOPLE who have signed up to Travel Thurrock to support ways of creating more sustainable methods of travelling around the borough have a chance to win a £300 adult bicycle.

The first 1,000 people who signs up to the scheme will receive a free pedometer enabling them to keep track of how much walking they do every day.

And the April edition of the Travel Thurrock email announces that Thurrock Council and Cycles UK have donated the £300 bike and everyone who has signed up will be entered in the prize draw on Tuesday, 29 May.

The email also gives news about events and interested groups ― such as the Thurrock Cycle Forum and the newly created Thurrock Local Access Forum ― as well as special deals and the prize draw.

Details of a dozen cycle-related events over the coming months are also published in the email.

Sign up to Travel Thurrock via the council website (www.thurrock.gov.uk) and follow the links from the home page.

Last year the council was awarded £5 million from the government to be spent over four years and has been working hard to put everything in place so travel choices will be more effective and efficient, easier, and cheaper in the years to come.

Working with public transport providers other partners including Sustrans, the East Tilbury-based Re-Use Partnership (TRUP). schools as well as the council’s own road safety, transport and highways teams, Travel Thurrock aims to have a positive impact on everyone’s Thurrock travel choices.
