THURROCK Council Trading Standards officers have been visiting the borough’s tanning salons to ensure sunbeds meet European safety guidelines.
Inspections checked that sunbed shops were:
Providing customers with information and advice about tanning schemes suitable for their skin type.
Not allowing the use of sunbeds by anyone under 18 and had systems in place to ensure this was adhered to at all times
Ensuring the sunbeds ultra-violet (UV) radiation did not exceed European safety limits.
The following all met the criteria:
Impulse Leisure – Blackshots, Grays, Belhus, Aveley and Corringham
Reem – High Street, Aveley
Soleil Tanning Studio – Queensgate Centre, Grays
Vivid Tanning – Defoe Parade, Chadwell
Slender You – Dock Road, Tilbury
Eclipse Tanning – St Johns Way, Corringham
Bannatynes Fitness – Howard Road, Chafford Hundred
Healthy Glow – Southend Road, Grays
Hair Gallery – Broxburn Parade, South Ockendon
Elite Tanning – Derwent Parade – South Ockendon
Classic Hair Company – Montreal Road, Tilbury
Fusion Beauty Salon – Lodge Lane, Grays
A number of other outlets which were tested are working with the council and suppliers to ensure their sunbeds are brought up to standard.
