ARE you looking for something to do in the summer holiday? Can you stay calm when things are busy? Are you eager to share your enthusiasm for reading?
If you are aged between 14 and 16 Thurrock Council’s library service is looking for volunteers to support staff during the ever-popular Summer Reading Challenge.
This is a chance to gain some work experience and new skills helping children enjoy their reading and gain their medal and certificate as part of this year’s challenge.
The service is looking for volunteers who can commit a minimum of 15 hours between Monday, 16 July and Friday, 14 September.
As a volunteer you will help library staff, joining children in the Summer Reading Challenge; being a reading buddy and talking and listening to children (mainly four to 11 year olds) about their books; and handing out stickers and reading awards.
Further information and an application form are available from Thurrock’s libraries and the closing date for all applications is 31 May. CRB checks will be required for anyone over the age of 16.
