Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Charlie Curtis and his family paid a visit to a Grays restaurant on Friday (4 May) to say “thank you” for their fund-raising efforts.
A charity night at the Desi restaurant in Orsett Road earlier in the year raised £636.13 for Little Haven’s Children’s Hospice — one of the mayor’s charities this year.
One of the restaurant’s owners, Abdul Wahid, said: “We all live in this community as well as work here and we wanted to do something to help the community too.”
And Cllr Curtis added: “Throughout my year in office I have been amazed by the generosity of local people and I have done my best to ensure our thanks are said and our gratitude is expressed.
“I would have liked to thank everyone who contributed personally, but that wasn’t possible, but I did manage to say thank you to everyone there on Friday.”
