THE headline acts for T-Fest 12 have been emerging over the past week.

T-Fest 12 — held on Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 June this year — the event will be firmly family focused and aiming to celebrate all of the borough’s communities.

On stage at Grays Beach Riverside Park this year will be: Janet Devlin, the X Factor’s acclaimed vocalist who has been noted for her brilliant vocals; Lloyd Daniels, who was the youngest X Factor contestant act in 2009 — his single Suburbian Girl was released in December 2011; The Risk, a four-piece R&B/Pop boy band, with an amazing range of vocal talent; and Danyl Johnson – X Factor 2009 whose audition rendition of With a Little Help from My Friends was described as “the best first audition I have ever heard” by Simon Cowell.

More names are being signed up almost daily. To keep up with the flow visit www.thurrockfestival.org.uk or the T-Fest Facebook (www.facebook.com/thurrockfest) page.

Grays Beach Park will be free and open for T-Fest 12 between 10am and 7pm on both days. As well as headline acts, the attractions will include a mini-Olympic arena, a bunting workshop, a food court and a fun fair.

At noon on the Sunday a carnival parade will travel from the Hawkes Close car park — the main Thurrock Council car park off New Road, Grays — and travel along Sherfield Road to Argent Street, turning left towards Manor Way and then right before entering the park itself as the borough’s Olympic Torch Relay celebrations kick off with Sparks Will Fly.

Led by Jugnu Bhangra Group the parade will include other Thurrock musical groups and 50 carnival dancers from Gable Hall School.

All are welcome to join the fun and anybody interested in joining the parade is asked to contact the council via the Thameside Theatre box office number 0845 300 5264 or by email [email protected] or for further information and to get involved in T-Fest contact the festival team on 01375652472 or [email protected]

Those taking part can walk, push or pull — the only rule is … no engines!

  1. Maybe they should rename the festival to the X-Festival, nearly every year it is headlined by X-Factor losing acts…………….

  2. Fast becoming less about Thurrock and more about booking over priced talent (?) show failures… I’m all for having a few famous acts to draw the crowd, but when every other act is some vaguely famous wannabe and fewer local acts are booked it just becomes a bit disappointing…

  3. These comments are really sad. I think its fantastic that Thurrock council tries to bring together all the communities, and the event is free. If you’ve been along you would appreciate the work that goes into this and the fun everyone has, with little if any trouble and lots of opportunities for people of all nationalities to come together for a good time. OK so they have X factor acts, so what…(.some people like this). what about our local talent that we also have on over the weekend, like Mackley drive, this is a great opportunity to celebrate. I think you should all stop being so cynical and go and have some fun. No matter what Thurrock tries to do you will always get those miserable people who just want to have a moan.
