Appeal after attempt robbery on delivery driver

POLICE are appealing for information after an attempted robbery on a delivery driver at a service road near Lodge Lane and Oval Gardens, Grays.

At 5.30pm on Monday, May 7, the victim – a man in his late 20s – was riding his scooter after making a takeaway delivery when a suspect ran up to him and pushed his scooter over, causing him to fall off and into the road. He was then kicked by three other suspects before a suspect tried to steal the scooter. They made off empty handed but then returned and threw objects at the victim and the scooter before finally running off to the rear of Rotary House.

Investigating officer, Dc Robert Brook, said: “The victim suffered from minor injuries to his ribs and knees, which was very lucky considering the level of violence used in this attack. It is thought that these four men may have been with five other people, so we really need to speak to anyone that saw a large group in this area at the time.

“We have been advising delivery drivers to stay alert whilst they are working, and in the mean time if you know who did this, please do the right thing and tell us who they are.”

All four suspects were white and approximately 14-years-old or over. The first suspect was of a skinny build, approximately 5’5” tall, had a skinny face and wearing all black with a hooded top with the hood up. The second suspect had yellow-ish skin, with a round face, of a stocky build, 5’3” tall and wearing a t-shirt. The third suspect was 5’ tall, of a skinny build and wore a black hooded top with the top up. The fourth suspect was of an average build, wearing a black hooded top with the hood up.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dc Robert Brook at the Thurrock target offender team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
