Having been delayed because of a water logged pitch the venue was set
for an exciting game under floodlights midweek at Barking RFC.

The weather held and a large crowd enjoyed the pinnacle of youth rugby
in Essex, the Under 19s Essex County Cup.

The first half saw Thurrock dominate, and despite stalwart defence by
Chingford deserverdly gained a seven point lead by scoring a converted
try under the posts. Both teams missed penalties just before half time.

Chingford started the second half with a new resolve snuffing out
Thurrocks running game, this paid dividends for them with a try which
they were unable to convert.

A period of poor discipline by Thurrock resulted in Chingford scoring
two penalties and Thurrock reduced to 14 men. Immediately Thurrock with
the bit between their teeth drove forward into the Chingford half and
the game tipped in their favour again. With 2 minutes to go Thurrock
drove over to score in the corner and despite missing the conversion
