Thurrock branch of U3A held its monthly meeting at the Civic Hall Grays.
Maggie Whitbread, chairperson, reported that Glenda Stephenson had agreed to take over the role of Editor of the newsletter. Articles for the June edition on the themes of the Coronation or the Silver Jubilee would be welcome.
The June meeting, on the 27th. would be dedicated to the Golden Jubilee, including a quiz on related subjects; members were invited to dress in patriotic colours of red, white or blue.
Several members are to take part in the Olympic ‘Walkathon’.
A holiday trip to Alvaston Holiday Centre in Cheshire is scheduled for June.
The speaker was Trevor Cornforth, a working auctioneer, who dispelled some of the illusions and fears about false bidding and sharp practices whilst giving some good advice on judging fakes from genuine antiques.
The next meeting will be on 30th. May.
