Stanford: Alive with music all throughout June

WITH so many events taking place this year between the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June and the Olympics in July and August, people will be spoilt for choice as to where to go for a day out. Well the problems solved if you live in or around Stanford le Hope and it won’t cost you a penny.

This year’s Stanford Music Festival takes place on the Saturday 30th June at the Billet Lane recreation ground. Kicking off at 2pm and running through to 10.30pm it will feature 8 bands and a number of local artists who have won through from the Thurrock’s Got Talent contest staged on the 15th June at the Crooked Billet pub Stanford le Hope. If you would like to enter Thurrock’s Got Talent (no groups) and be in with a chance to appear at the festival then phone 07881827446.

The event has been running for over 10 years and is a great day out for all the family with many bring picnics and making the day of it. For those that want to leave the picnic baskets behind there is a wide choice of food available on site and dinks available from the Crooked Billet Pub.

There will be the usual funfair running on site from Thursday the 28th with discounted rides on the first night On the day of the festival Essex Wildlife Trust will be there with information on the new Thurrock Thameside Nature Park (the old Mucking tip) which is opening in September, there will also be the chance to win a brand new Vauxhall Corsa in July by purchasing a ticket for only £1.00 from Thurrock Community Chest.

The Stanford Music Festival and the Thurrock’s Got Talent events are both staged by The Stanford Forum for the benefit of local residents and the wider community; we hope as in past year’s you come along and enjoy the day. For more information on both events visit our website
