HRH, the Duke of Kent visited the Royal Opera House production park in Purfleet to see for himself the work that opera house had undertaken as well as the close links developed between the opera house and the community.
The Duke was met by HM Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Lord Petre, Cllr Yash Gupta MBE, Mayor of Thurrock,
Lord Hall, Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House, Mr Graham Farrant Chief Executive of Thurrock Borough Council, and member of Parliament, Ms Jackie Doyle-Price.
Lord Hall showed His Royal Highness the beautifully renovated farm buildings and formal gardens before introducing him to members of the local community, people who have been involved in the creation of the High House Production Park, and members of the Royal Opera House Education Team.
His Royal Highness toured the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop and was introduced to some of the talented craftspeople who create the sets and scenery for the Covent Garden stage.
He then went on to meet pupils from Purfleet Primary who will be taking part in a creative workshop.
