Two buses destroyed by fire in Purfleet

FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a blaze in a bus depot on Saturday evening. The incident involved two double decker buses parked inside the Ensign Bus Company in Juliette Way, Purfleet.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets and one hose reel to fight flames.

At 19:25 hrs, crews reported that both vehicles were 100 per cent well alight and the side of the depot building was being affected by heat. The aerial ladder platform was used as a cooling monitor, pouring water onto the scene from above as crews tackled flames on the ground.

At 19:46 hrs, crews reported that the two buses were destroyed by fire as the incident was being brought under control.

The fire was out by 20:55 hrs.

We have no information at this stage relating to the cause of the incident.
