VERTEX Public Sector has been acquired by the Serco Group for £55.5m.
The outsourcing business, which is the public sector division of Vertex Data Science, provides services to Thurrock Council.
Hook-based Serco told a newspaper that the acquisition brought additional skills and capabilities to support expansion into new areas of middle and back office support and added further scale to its recently-created global services division.
Vertex was sold by United Utilities in 2007 and its private sector division was purchased last year by Capita for £40.5m.
