Thurrock Film Festival almost here

The UK’s Newest Film Festival is here!

The 1st film festival to be held in the area in over twenty years and has already gathered recognition amongst the film industry with some well known names agreeing to participate in the judging process of the short film categories.

Event organizers and co- founders Natalie Williams and Benjamin Scarsbrook are filmmakers themselves, so have created the film festival to appeal to other filmmakers and film lovers.

“We designed the festival to not only capture our audiences imaginations but to also inspire and educate them.” Says organiser Natalie. There will be screenings of short films from all over the world. Categories of short films that will feature in the festival are fiction, documentary, animation, International film, music video, experimental, Student and under 16. Allowing all kinds of film enthusiasts to attend and not feel disappointed.

There will also be a talk from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) on censorship in the year it celebrates its centenary. An active member will explain and discuss classification decisions with examples and clips.

As well as showcasing new talent it’s just as important to re-live the classics! Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, Singin’ In The Rain, Spirited Away and The Wizard Of Oz will be specially screened in selected theatres in Thurrock during the festival.

Famed film critic Barry Norman, who hosted the BBCs ‘Film’ programme for twenty-six years will be hosting an evening where he will discuss his favourite films and anecdotes from his long career.

The festival will also host a British Premiere! The acclaimed documentary ‘The Good Life’ by Danish director Eva Mulvard will premiere at Lakeside Shopping Center’s Vue Cinema. The Thurrock International Film Festival is an event that will not be ruined by the traditional English weather, as all of the events throughout the week will be held inside and tickets are only £3 per event. You can even buy a festival pass for £28, go to everything and save a third!
