Orsett show delighted at council help

THE Orsett Show organising committee were delighted to hear the news that Thurrock Council had agreed to support their 2012 Show with £5,000 sponsorship in recognition of the benefits the show brings to Thurrock.

Clive Folkard (Honorary Show Director) explained ‘’Many people do not fully understand the importance of the Orsett Show or what it brings to the local area. Being a registered charity run completely by volunteers our aim is to work with community groups, other charities, businesses, schools and clubs to show-case the variety and diversity of our local area, with a bias towards rural and countryside activities. Many local charities and good causes also use the show as a platform to promote and garner support for their activities. All profit over and above the cost of running the show is donated each year to nominated charities who work with us throughout the year.’’

Raising sufficient money to put the show on is a major concern and we are grateful for support we have received in the past, especially from Petoplus who have been a valued supporter for many years. We absolutely rely on sponsorship – hearing that Thurrock Council is supporting our 2012 show financially is very welcome news. We are appreciative to them for the financial support and delighted that the Council recognises the significance of the Orsett Show and what it brings to Thurrock. We look forward to having closer working links with Thurrock Council in the coming years.’’
