LAKESIDE will soon be open for longer when Sunday trading laws are suspended by the government during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
On eight Sundays from 22nd July until 9th September inclusive, Lakeside Shopping Centre will be open from 10am until 7pm, rather than its usual 11am until 5pm. The decision was made by the Lakeside Merchants Association who voted in favour of the extended hours.
Paul Lancaster, Lakeside’s General Manager, said “Our retailers have been discussing this since the Chancellor’s announcement on 21st March. The Merchants Association agrees which hours the shopping centre trades, individual retailers vote on what they want to do and the proposed hours were carried forward with significant support.
“We’re delighted that we’ll be open for longer on Sundays during the Games and look forward to welcoming many visitors, both old and new, to Lakeside.”
