Grays student pay tribute to the fallen of Ypres

RECENTLY, 40 year nine students and four members of staff from the Grays School Media Arts College had the pleasure of going to Ypres in Belgium.

The purpose of the visit was to see the battlefields of World War One and attend a memorial service at Menin Gate as well as lay a wreath.

Ryan Day and Amelia Kavanagh had the honour of laying the wreath on behalf of the school at the service. The group also had the opportunity to find the graves and memorials of their own family members at Tyne Cot Cemetery, pay their respects and walk around the beautifully kept grounds.

One of the students, Rebecca Nunn, who found the grave of her Great Uncle said: “It was a bit upsetting but it made the trip feel really special”.
