More cricketing success for Gable Hall

WHATEVER the Juniors can do, the Seniors can certainly match them. The Senior cricket team struggled to get going in this game as they batted first and lost early wickets due to some very quick and hostile bowling from the St Cleres opening bowlers. Opener Matt Slaughter and middle order batsman Tom Anderson and James Pearn showed great maturity and helped Gable Hall post a total of 98 from their 20 overs (Matt being the star with 43 not out).

Cameron Waller opened the bowling for Gable, and took 2 wickets in his first over as he clean bowled 2 St Cleres batsman. Along with some excellent fielding, this put pressure on St Cleres and they found it very difficult to score runs. With wickets falling as quickly as runs were being scored, James Pearn, Jono Edwards and Matt Slaughter cleaned up the rest of the St Cleres batsman (2 wickets each) as they were bowled out for a measly 38. Gable Hall won by 60 runs and secured a Cricketing double! (Retaining both titles! :))

  1. Congratulations and what a great photo! School boys enjoying success with their team mates, smiles on their faces having had some fun playing cricket…our national summer sport!

Alas you won’t see such pictures, from the ‘Outstanding’ schools in Thurrock!

The Ockendon Academy doesn’t even have a sports day, even in Olympic year! William Edwards focus year round on individuals and the elitist sport of athletics! And as for the Chafford Hundred Campus…cricket isn’t really the ‘Harris’ way! Tut, tut and I thought every child matters!
