JUST TO avoid any confusion, 2012 marks the centenary of Tilbury as an administrative entity, as a town. We all know that the place is referenced in history back to the middle ages.
But it continues to have its own identity that is maintained and nurtured by many many people.
The crowds came out on Sunday at the Anchorfield to celebrate in festive manner.
Gateway Academy school performed on the stage as well as many other community groups. The Tilbury Brass band played and there was a host of activities in the middle.
Local MP, Jackie Doyle-Price was there as well as the local Tilbury councillors, Lynn Worrall, Steve Liddiard and Claire Baldwin.
YT spoke to one of the organisers, Annie O’Brien about the day and the work of the community.
