Football: Dockers coast to victory at Ramsgate

RAMSGATE 0 v 3 TILBURY (Att 71)

Tilbury travelled to the Kent Coast on Saturday for our annual game with Ramsgate with the game played in glorious conditions on an excellent suffice for football. Tilbury were rewarded with a good performance to come away worthy winners.

Tilbury gave starts to Mitchell Curran, Martin Llewellyn and Jamie Williams and all shone during the afternoon.

In the opening 15 minutes Emiel Aiken caused alarms for the home defence with some dangerous runs. He went close on 17 when his header went just wide. On 37 Ramsgate almost broke the deadlock when an effort went wide from 6 yards.

From the next attack Tilbury took the lead. A high ball was dropped by the keeper and fell to Jamie Williams who slotted home. The mistake was a blow for Ramsgate as it was the last action of the afternoon for there keeper due to an injury. On 44 Tilbury doubled there lead when the effective Aiken crossed and Llewellyn nipped in to flick home. As the half drew to a close Aiken’s effort was cleared off the line. Ramsgate did come out with purpose after the break and went close in 2 minutes but were denied by the excellence of Danny Smith. On 56 Both substitutes Ben Crooks and Ellis Skidmore had efforts at goal before Same West rifled into the net for a fine goal. On the hour James Marrable had to be at his best when he made a full diving save. In the final 10 minutes both sides pushed for goals but were denied by some strong defending.

After the game Paul Vaughan commented “A confident performance all round. Delighted with the defence and another clean sheet. With a couple of the regulars unavailable, I gave run outs to youngsters Mitch Curran and Bradley Hooper in midfield and they gave the side some pleasing performances and did not disappoint. Martin Llewellyn showed his potential and trialist Jamie Williams showed his excellent work rate in attack. I am really pleased with our Development system at the club”

On Tuesday the Dockers welcome Bowers and Pitsea to Chadfields 7.45pm kick off.
