COMMUTERS in Thurrock were complaining of a stench over the borough this morning (Monday) after a fire in a quarry pit close to East Tilbury.
Fire crews had been called to 200 tonnes of rubbish and rubber alight in a quarry pit in Buckingham Hill Road, Linford.
The fire started at just after 6pm on Sunday night.
The fire is deep in a pit and is too difficult to gain access to.
Crews are monitoring the fire as it burns out.
