A level celebrations at Palmer’s

PALMER’S students continue the Borough’s celebrations with superb A-Level results and 100% pass rates in an incredible 25 subject areas.

The College gained an overall pass rate of 98%, an increase of 1% from 2011.

Subjects with a 100% pass rate include Mathematics, Economics, Law, Chemistry, German and Physical Education. Last year 19 subjects gained a 100% pass rate.

A* – B grades were up by 1% to 43% this year with 57 A* grades being awarded to Palmer’s students. The College is also delighted to report a 2% increase in A*- C grades to 70%.

43 students gained Triple Distinctions (equivalent to three As at A – Level) in their Level 3 BTEC courses.

Local student Lize Stam worked remarkably hard and walked away with 3 A*s in Chemistry, Double and Further Maths and an A in Biology. She has successfully secured a place at Cambridge University to study Natural Sciences.

The ex-Grays Convent student said: “Since finding out that I had been offered a place at Cambridge University early this morning, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Now that I’ve seen my results, I still can’t believe what I’m reading!

She added: “I worked hard throughout the two years and have done as well as I could have. The support and guidance at Palmer’s has been outstanding.”

Mark Vinall, Principal, said: “Just like our superb Olympic athletes Palmer’s students have proven that hard work, dedication and commitment will deliver well deserved rewards and I am enormously proud of all our students and all the wonderful staff who made these stunning results possible.”

  1. Can somebody remind me what South Essex Colleges arguments were for moving Thurrock College to Grays town centre. Whoever it was that came up with that little beauty better make sure they don’t drop the brown envelope on their foot, they’ll be in plaster for weeks.
