Football: Stimmo’s kids given harsh lesson by Harrow

IF THURROCK boss, Mark Stimson wasn’t sure where he stood at 3pm on Saturday, he certainly knew by 5pm as Thurrock were thumped 4-1 by Harrow Borough.

There were two clearances off the line in the first five minutes. And then the floodgates opened.

After nine minutes, skipper Rob Wolleaston fired home from close range. After 13 minutes, Alwayne Jones, netted from a narrow angle.

And then, after 15 minutes, it was all about the angles as Akinola took a simple ball and slipped it past the struggling Seal.

Harrow grabbed a fourth in the 51st minute, after the troublesome Akinola was upended in the box.

Garry Jones netted the spot-kick, only for the referee to order a retake for encroachment. The defender calmly put the retake past Seal.

Thurrock’s Taylor got a consolation.

Thurrock play their first home game of the season against Bury on Tuesday night at 7.45pm.
