Veoila turn the tide for Thurrock Swimming Club

AS the new swimming season begins, Thurrock Swimming Club have been successful in securing a grant from The Veolia Mardyke Trust in the sum of £3,000.

Councillor Charlie Curtis, the Chair of the Veolia Mardyke Trust, said “I’m very pleased that the Trust was able to help Thurrock Swimming Club, which I know does a fantastic job in encouraging swimming and running galas – and you don’t have to be an Olympic swimmer to have a lot of fun swimming!”

The grant is to help the club with new training and gala equipment. This includes software and equipment in order to run galas which the club organise and run at Blackshots Leisure Centre in Grays.

Galas are an integral part of Thurrock Swimming Club and the Club is grateful to The Veolia Mardyke Trust for supporting their application. The Club’s Gala Team are already ploughing ahead using the new equipment. Training equipment will also be purchased to ensure all sections of the club are catered for from Learn to Swim, Squads, Swimfit and the Club’s Masters section.

Hazel Day, Thurrock Swimming Club Secretary, commented “We are extremely grateful for grants of this kind as they make a huge difference to our club and all our swimmers. We are looking forward to the new season and working in association with The Veolia Mardyke Trust”
