IF YOU THOUGHT that the St Osyth lion was a load of cobras then read on as one of the world’s deadliest vipers was found after passing through Tilbury docks.
The 18in viper was discovered on Wednesday afternoon at a local business after travelling from India.
The find was reported to the South Essex Wildlife Hospital in Orsett, which sent in reptile expert Steve Mitchell to “handle with care”.
Hospital founder Sue Schwar said the viper was caught using a snake loop and taken to a safe location where it is currently being looked after.
