THE port of Tilbury will begin construction of a new wind farm in October.
Once operational, the multi-turbine farm will generate almost half of the energy needed to power the port.
CEO of Forth Ports, Perry Glading said: “As Britain’s greenest port, it made sense for us to look into providing renewable energy from sustainable sources.”
Standing at 126.5m high, the turbines will be arrive on site by water in January 2013.
The port and SSE renewables will be holding a public exhibition about the plans at the London Cruise Terminal, in Ferry Road, Tilbury, on Thursday, September 20, from 4pm to 8pm.
