THIS MAY NOT be the most exciting film, YourThurrock has ever published but we thought that we would take a trip up to Wharf Road, Stanford-le-Hope on a Friday afternoon.
We went to see how many lorries went up and down the road in the space of a particular hour. The hour in question was between 1.50pm and 2.50pm.
There has been a great deal of concern expressed by residents regarding the intensity of the traffic as well as damage to street furniture, especially at the turning near to the Inn on the Green.
All we wanted to do was get a feel for things. The film shows that there were around 20 lorries in that hour.
A very kind driver got out of his (Squibb) lorry and asked us if he could help us. That was nice. And sure enough, a few minutes later, two PCSO’s stopped by and informed us that they had had a call from a “resident” regarding our activities.
So, here we are and we will be back. Perhaps not at such a sociable hour.

Michael. This cries out for time-lapse.
