Thurrock got of to a flying start when they took the lead in the fourth minute with a superbly executed move that ended with a fine header from Charlie Stimsom.
The move started with the Thurrock midfield and when the ball was played out wide for Luke Wanadio to run at his defender he twisted and turned before sending over the perfect cross which found the head of Charlie Stimson in acres of space, as he elevated himself he placed the header just inside the far post.
The goal shocked the home side into action and the Thurrock defence had to be alert as the Blue Square side tried to dominate the action.
In the 33rd minute Welling where awarded a corner on the right, as the ball came over it was the head of Ross Layafette the got there first just before Lawrence Yiga, he headed the ball down low and past Wil Viner in the Thurrock goal.

The Welling defence stood solid with only a couple of half chances being created.
In the 82nd minute Thurrock got the ball into the back of the Welling goal from the head of Matt Turpin only to be disappointed with the linesman’s flag for offside.
