Hockey: Thurrock smash ten past Crostyx

Thurrock 10 v 1 Crostyx

This week in Div 3SE Thurrock took on Crostyx. Thurrock started the game with hopes on a high aiming for the third win on the bounce. Thurrock’s effort was soon rewarded when some skillful play from Christian Wrong footed the defender to pass back post for Jak Taylor to deflect past the advancing keeper.

When play ressumed Thurrock where once again the dominant side creating some excellent one-two passing between Nick Stapleton and Dan O’Shaunessy leading to some close shots.

Liam Birch was unfortunate to see his deflection going over the crossbar from one foot away. Thurrock managed to claim their second goal when Dan O’Shaunessy dribbled past the defender to slap the ball past the keeper.

Thurrock continued the half with some strong attacking runs and shortly before the half ended Birch picked up on a rebounded shot from Steven Abbott claim Thurrock’s third of the match.

The second half saw the return of defender Tommy Ing who had recently been away on injury. The Thurrock defence kept strong and constantly kept cutting out the Crostyx attack.

With no way through Crostyx heads dropped which allowed Thurrock to claim four well taken goals by Abbott within 15 minutes.

Jenkins soon added to Thurrock goal tally after rounding the keeper and slotting the ball against the backboard.

Shortly after Jenkin’s goal, some sloppy Thurrock passing lead to a quick break away by Crostyx which to Thurrock’s upset led to the loss of a clean sheet.

Five minutes before the end of the game some brilliant passing lead to Abbott claiming his fifth of the game, ending the score at 10-1.
