A JOYRIDER who lost control of a stolen vehicle after he picked up a McDonalds, crashed into a electricity substation causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage, a court heard.
Lewis Gray (20), Celandine Close, South Ockendon pleaded guilty to five charges in relation to the theft of a motor vehicle.
The court heard that on the 6th September, Gray took his step-father’s transit van from South Ockendon. He drove it to the McDonald’s drive-thru in Cygnet Way, Lakeside. Gray bought the meal and then proceeded to drive but lost control and smashed into a nearby electricity substation.
A statement from the owners of the substation estimated the damage to be £36,000.
The case was adjourned for sentencing at Basildon Crown Court on October 29th.

He later claimed that Ronald McDonald distracted him with the size of his huge burgers!
