Footie challenge raises funds for Malta tour at Hassenbrook

THE long established Hassenbrook Academy staff football team were challenged to a match by a group of year 11 leavers to raise money for a forthcoming Malta Tour scheduled for May next year.

Lewis Graham, ex-student proposed the fundraising friendly which was held after school in Stanford-le-Hope. The event was promoted by prefects, officiated by current Year 11 students, Bradley Mercer, Jordan Sullivan and James Ayris and supported by all years and staff on the side line.

Mr Plager, player manager for the staff team said: “We really appreciate the ex-students giving up their time to play today.

“With a team effort from staff and students we were able to raise £140 whilst entertaining the supporters on the side line. These donations are a welcome addition to our fundraising.”

The final score of 4-1 to Hassenbrook staff caused speculation in the crowd as to whether this could become an annual fixture.’
