Belhus “A” made it five wins out of five in the indoor youth cricket competition at Grays School with their latest victory coming at the expense of Thurrock “B”. Joe Dalton recorded the highest wicket-taking haul of the event to date as he bagged all four Thurrock wickets to fall at a cost of just 13 runs. The Blackshots-based club finished with 83 runs for the loss of four wickets.
Zak Wilson and Tyler Kohl wrapped up the match comfortably and without loss for Belhus by scoring 25 and 22 respectively. Meanwhile, the fixture between Orsett and Stanford le Hope produced a much tighter affair. Orsett produced a steady start but were kept in check by the Stanford attack, though Joseph Pumfrett with 14 not out helped Orsett to a score of 58 for the loss of two wickets as Freddie Hales (1-10) and Max Willats (1-14) shared the spoils.
Rajan Kular picked up the early wicket of Stanford’s Hales for just one run, but Jamie Smith, after a slow start, found the boundary wall three times in one over to set up back to back wins for the East Thurrock club. Smith, like Pumfrett earlier, finished undefeated with 14 runs to his name while Orsett’s Kular finished with 1-7 as Stanford finished on 59-1 to win by five wickets.
