Plans for flats in Tilbury to go ahead despite leisure centre fire says developers

PLANS to build upon the land where the Tilbury leisure centre burnt down last week, are still going ahead.

A representative from the Edgware-based GH Land Developments Ltd and architects attended a meeting of the Tilbury Community Forum to answer questions on their proposal.

Fire swept through the disused building on Saturday October 27th.

The proposal for nearly fifty flats next to the Anchorfield will be tabled at the next Thurrock Council planning meeting on November 22nd at the civic offices in New Road, Grays.

The representative from the developers explained that the flats, mostly two-bedroomed, would be ideal for young couples starting out.

There was some debate about the covenant on the land but Tilbury councillor, Lynn Worrall explained that that was a separate manner that was being looked into.

The fire was not the only setback that GH Land Developments Ltd of Edgware had suffered over the past few years.

A check with companies house states that GH Land Developments Ltd were almost dissolved last year. However, the spokesperson for the company, who only identified himself as Paul stated that everything was fine now.
