Georgia out on her own as she scoops Thurrock Young Musician of the Year

STANFORD and CORRINGHAM sixth form student, Georgia Robertson won the Thurrock Young Musician of the Year award for 2012.

The adjudicator from the Royal Opera House pointed to the passion and life Georgia breathed into her version of “On my Own” from Les Miserables.

There was tough competition for Georgia, with ten other artists producing a dazzling display of musical aptitude.

Jemma Costin came second with her piano selection of “I Got Rhythm”.

The event was hosted by Thurrock Music Services, Mardyke Rotary Club and Thurrock Council.

The mayor of Thurrock, cllr Yash Gupta was in attendance along with a large number of mayors from around the south-east.
