Thurrock residents woke up this morning to a blanket of snow, Things were fine around 4am with just a heavy frost suddenly the skies opened up and by the time rush hour traffic started it was a winter wonderland.The weather took the council gritters by surprise.They had been out at 8pm and due to the weather came back out at 7am.
There are no reports of any school closures.
The snow is not expected to last.
