HASSENBROOK Academy canteen in Stanford le hope was buzzing at lunchtime today where Year 11 Citizenship students held the finale of their Fair Trade Campaign.
A cake sale was staged to raise awareness with staff and students of the benefits of buying fair trade produce. All the cakes baked for the event were made in school and decorated with Fair Trade products, the profits from the sale will be donated to OXFAM.
Students further promoted their cause around the Academy by artwork / posters and flyers and wearing t-shirts printed in the Technology Department.
Miss Ellis, Head of Humanities said, ‘ This is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the GCSE Citizenship students, their course requires them to form a campaign on an issue that they feel strongly about and this year students have chosen to promote the advantages of buying fair trade products. It is great to see the students and staff giving so much support, signing petitions and listening to what the students have to say about Fair Trade’.
